Makeup Monday: Week 5

For those of you who don’t know, every week I pick a few products to where for a full week. At the end of the week, I write reviews to let you know how the products worked. This time, I picked products that I had never tried before. So, here’s my thoughts on this past week.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Foundation: I love It Cosmetics. I swear by their CC cream, so I was really excited to get this product, especially since the shade range focused on undertones.  I chose the shade “Fair Light” since I have cool pink undertones and very fair skin. Their lightest shade for advertised for warm yellow undertones. However, this product was too dark for me. If I take it done the neck and use a lighter concealer, it’s passable, but I felt like it was a lot of work for such an expensive product.

I applied this product with my Beauty Blender, so I never got the full coverage that I probably could have gotten with a brush (it’s been waaay too hot for full coverage this week), and this product looked like skin. It felt great to put on and had SPF coverage of 50. I never got burnt and I spent a lot of time outside.

This product would be perfect for me if it was lighter. I plan on going in store to see if the lightest shade might be able to work for me. If not, I’ll try mixing it with a lighter product. I love the finish so much, but I won’t be able to get away with the color come fall.
Price: $39.50 / Size: 1.014 oz

Ulta Twisted Volume Mascara: This is a fun product. For those of you who haven’t seen it, this is a mascara with an adjustable brush for how much volume you are looking to get. There are four setting (numbers 1 – 4) and four is the maximum volume. I really liked used setting 1 for very natural days and the higher setting for days where I had a bolder eye look.

This mascara is much better at lengthening than it is at creating volume, despite the name. While it’s a good mascara, it isn’t going to replace false lashes. This product is great for me, because I’m not looking for major volume very often, but I do like defined lashes.

Many mascaras make my eyes pretty itchy, which leads to a lot of smudging and flaking. I  didn’t have any of that with this mascara, so I am pretty happy with the purchase. I’m not I’ll pick it up again, but I’ll definitely use it all. It’s good enough that I’m interested in trying other Ulta brand mascaras.

Essence Brighten Up! Banana Powder: There’s been a lot of hype surrounding this product. Youtubers have been raving about it, but I still had some doubts about it…until I tried it. This is my favorite product of the three. It’s fantastic for setting underneath my eyes. I was able to lightly use it on my forehead and it didn’t cling to dry patches. I’ve never before used a powder that didn’t. If you’re going to try any of these products, this is the one to pick. It’s the most affordable and the most impressive.

This powder is great for fair skin, but wouldn’t work well on darker skin tones. Essence recently released a darker shade as well. While I wouldn’t be able to give it a good review, I can only hope that it’s as good as this one.
