Hello all,

Instead of sporadic updates, I have a new and interesting idea to share with you all. Each week I will share with you a few products that I will be trying out in the coming week. I will use these products for all seven days. Each Monday, I will post my opinion of the products that I used the previous week and what you can be expecting the next Monday.  Here are the products I used this week:

Wet n’ Wild MegaCushion Foundation SPF 15:  Cushion foundations were very popular last year. Ideally, they’re a quick and easy product to use. I purchased the shade “Light Ivory” which is their lightest possible color option. In the winter, I couldn’t get away with this product, but I can use it in the summer with a lighter concealer. I did find it to be pretty warm-toned, despite reading it had neutral undertones. This product comes in eight shades (though only the five lightest are currently for sale on their website) and while it’s true that you can get away with a smaller shade range with lighter coverage products, I can’t imagine this is an all-inclusive shade range.
My main problem with this product was not the color, because I could make that work, but the fact that in clung to my dry patches. The coverage is minimal but can be layered to provide more coverage. I could get it to almost a medium coverage, but I would have to set it with a powder. Many of my powders didn’t work well with this product. If you don’t have many enlarged pores or dry patches and manage to fit into the shade range, this might be a good product for you. However, I did find it to get a bit oily in the center of my forehead towards the end of the day, so I don’t think it would be advisable for oily skin.
When applied with a damp beauty blender, I could get about four hours of nice coverage so I can see myself wearing it while I run errands on a lazy day.  I’ll most likely use this product up, but I can’t see myself repurchasing it – even with a sale.

Physicians Formula Brow Lasting Longwearing Brow Gel in Dark Brown: Here is a product that caters to the natural looking bushy brow trend. As someone with fairly big sparse brows, this product really appealed to me. I don’t like my brows to look perfectly sculpted as opposed to a well-groomed natural look. This product can achieve that look flawlessly, but let’s start with this products biggest problem.
There is no applicator worse than the one that comes with this product. The tub is shaped like a mascara tube with a brush that screws in where the mascara wand would usually go. At one end of the brush is a spoolie and the other end is a thick square brush that dips into the product. I spent the first few days applying a bit of product with this brush directly to my brows and combing it out. This mess is incredibly messy. too much product sticks to the brush no matter how much you try wiping it off and the brush is too thick to make natural looking strokes. I spent a lot of time using makeup remover to clean up the edges of my brows and I still only achieved the desired results 50% of the time. I was so ready to call this product a fail until I came up with a new approach.
Since the problem wasn’t the product, but the applicator, I reached for my E.L.F. Cosmetics eyebrow brush and used that to take the product off the applicator of the brow gel instead of applying it directly to my face. This worked perfectly. So well that it may be my favorite brow product of all time. If you can get past the cumbersome applicator and are willing to reach for a brush, this is a GREAT product.
Price: $9.99 / Size: 0.22 oz

After using a product seven days in a row, I found that I really and truly got to know where or not I liked the product. Since I tried it so many times, I was able to use the foundation with different primers and see what difference that made. I’m excited to keep trying different products. This week’s products are:

Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow 10 Pan Palette in Basis Peach
Profusion Contour Palette
Wet n Wild MegaCushion Color Corrector in Green
E.L.F. Active Post-Workout Cool Down Mist
