It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
…If you don’t mind the chapped lips, dry skin, and freezing temperatures. As someone who is not a winter person (picture Sally from the peanuts iconically screaming “I was not made for winter!”), I have gathered some supplies to help ease the drops in temperatures. Here’s a list of my favorites:
1) Lip Balm:
Milani Keep It Smooth Luxe Lip Treatment: This is the smoothest lip balm I have every used. It feels like a spa treatment for your lips. It’s $10USD and comes in a small pot for you to apply with your fingers. Since I don’t like using my fingers if I am in public, I like to travel with…
Le Couvent des Minimes Smile Balm in Apple and Pear: Last year I went on a quest to find the best lip balm and this stuff was perfect. Retailing at $9 USD, this product comes with an applicator, so you don’t have to worry about dipping your fingers into a pot. I chose Apple and Pear, because I found the other flavors to be too heavily scented. The rose scent was incredibly over powering, but the Apple and Pear flavor was subtle enough. This product was also great on my chapped lips.
2) Hand Cream:
Soap and Glory Hand Food: This should come as no surprised, as this is one of the most raved about hand creams on the internet. I recently bought a travel size of the original and the sugar crush scents for $4USD each. This hand cream smells nice and sinks into the skin fairly quickly, so I don’t have to worry about hand cream stains on my pants or unpleasant handshakes.
H2O Plus Speciality Care Hand and Nail Cream: The travel size is $5USD(currently on sale at Ulta Beauty!). I only use this hand cream at night, as it is a much heavier formula than the Hand Food. This is somewhat scented in a way that I can only think to describe as “slightly perform counter.” Still, it helps my hands and nails drastically and the scent doesn’t last long, so it’s definitely worth a purchase.
The Body Shop Hand Cream: The scent is really personal preference. I like to use this hand cream to maintain more than when I really need a deep treatment. I purchase these at Marshall’s for $2.99 each and throw one in each bag so I’m never without one.
3) Hand Sanitizer:
The Honest Company Hand Sanitizer Spray: It retails for $5.95USD, but I purchased it at Marshall’s for $2.99USD. I actually love that it comes in a spray, has it gets a larger surface with the initial application than a squeeze tube.
4) Plush Blankets and Scented Candles
Yankee Candle: They are a classic for a reason. Once again, I have to recommend Marshalls/T.J. Maxx/ Homegoods. They really do sell great candles for discount price.
Primark: Primark sells individual plush throws for $7USD. A larger Queen sized throw is $14USD.
I find all of these things to be a good comfort on cold stressful, days. Let me know your favorite winter comfort.
